Observers from more than 40 countries accredited to monitor the presidential election in Belarus.

MINSK, 15 Jan (BelTA). - International observers from more than 40 countries have been accredited to monitor the presidential elections in Belarus, the secretary of the Central Election Commission Elena Baldóvskaya told reporters, BelTA correspondent reports.

‘To date, polling station juries have accredited just over 37,000 domestic observers. The accreditation of domestic observers will be carried out until the beginning of early voting. That is, Monday, 20 January is the last day on which the subjects can send their representatives as observers to the relevant polling station juries,’ said the CEC secretary.

Accreditation of international observers continues. ‘As of today, just over 400 people have been accredited. Applications to the CEC, questionnaires from the relevant structures and, as a result, the issuing of accreditation certificates by the CEC continues. To date, observers from more than 40 countries have been accredited. These include the CIS countries, the European Union, the African continent and Asia. In other words, there is already a sufficiently wide geography of representation of international observers, according to the accreditation carried out by the CEC,’ noted Elena Baldóvskaya.
