MINSK, 15 Jan (BelTA). - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has approved the strategies of Belarus' participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS, the Presidential Administration told BelTA.
The drafts of the Strategy of Belarus' Participation in the SCO and the Strategy of Actions to Implement the Foreign Policy of the Republic of Belarus within the framework of participation in the BRICS activities were submitted by the Government to the Head of State for consideration. Aleksandr Lukashenko approved both documents.
In summer 2024 the country became a full member of the SCO family and subsequently formalised its status as a BRICS partner state.
The Strategy on Belarus‘ Participation in the SCO defines conceptual areas of activity, goals and objectives of Belarus’ participation in the SCO and mechanisms for their implementation in the short and medium term.
The Strategy on BRICS also defines priority areas of Belarus' interaction with BRICS member and partner states.
Both strategies are designed for five years, until 2030. They can be extended, updated and revised in the light of certain current trends.
